Create and setup a Discord Server (Updated – 2024)

In order to create a Discord server, you need to have a validated account. You can do this easily by downloading the Discord client. After you install the client you will be automatically pointed towards creating and validating your account.

Once you have a fully activated Discord account, follow the steps down below:

1. Open Discord and tap on the + icon. It’s located somewhere in the left section of the screen.
   
2. On the next screen, click on Create a Server.
   
3. Now you need to decide on a name and icon for your new discord server. While the latter option is not required, it certainly gives it an aesthetic boost. Once you got that going, decide on a Server Region. Try to set one closest your and your friend’s location. The Server Region will play a key role in determining the overall ping when using voice communication. The lower the ping, the faster your message will get through to your brothers in arms. Hit Create when everything is in place.
   
4. Now that the server is created, it’s time to invite your friends. You can invite your friends quickly by clicking on the Create Instant Invite icon.
   
5. You can copy the invitation link and send it to all your friends. If they don’t have a Discord account yet, they will be prompted to sign up and validate their accounts. But tell them to speed up the process because the invites will expire after 24 hours. You can tone down the availability of the invitation by clicking the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the pop-up.
   
   Note: Latest Discord updates include the option to make invites never expire. Just make sure you tick the box next to Set this link to never expire.

Creating Discord Server on Android

If you’re looking to create a Discord server from an Android server, the steps are somewhat different but the end result is the same. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Download and install the Discord app on your Android from Google Play Store.
2. Open the Discord app and either log in or create an account if you don’t have one.
   
3. Once you’re successfully logged in, tap on the + icon (left side of the screen).
   
4. Select Create a new Server.
   
5. Now it’s time to configure your new server. Decide upon a name and an image (optional). After that, scroll down and select a region (under Server Region) that is convenable for you and your buddies. The more accurate the region, the less delay you will have with your voice conversations. Hit Create when you’re ready to proceed.
   
6. After the server is created, tap the action button in the top left corner and select Create Instant Invite.
   
7. Discord will automatically generate a link that you can use to invite your friends to the server you’ve just created. You can tweak some settings by tapping on the gear icon near the invite link. Hit Share Link when you’re ready.
   Note: By default, an invite link is set to expire after 24 hours. You can make it available indefinitely by enabling the toggle next to Set this link to never expire.
8. Choose an app from the line-up that will allow you to invite your friends.
