Destiny 2’s Lightfall Expansion Preload Bug Locks PS5 Players Out – Here’s How to Fix It
At the latest State of Play live stream event, Bungie officially announced the most magnificent expansion (Destiny 2: Lightfall) for Destiny 2 since its release. Bungie also revealed that the players will be able to hop in Lightfall on 28th February 2023, 9 AM PT, after a 24-hour cool down that will be initiated on 27th February 2023, 9 AM PT, during which the Destiny 2 servers will be offline.
Still, the players will be able to preload the expansion in these 24 hours so that they can start playing the game right away once Destiny 2: Lightfall is live. However, some regions have received the option to preload the DLC earlier than the intended time, which has led to some issues, mainly on PlayStation 5.
Players who have pre-loaded the Density 2: Lightfall on their PlayStation 5 are not able to log into the game at all. In simpler terms, a bug has locked them out of Destiny 2 altogether after the installation of Lightfall expansion.
It should be noted that players on Xbox consoles and PlayStation 4 are not facing this issue, and it is only limited to PlayStation 5 at the time of writing this article.
Bungie has been swift in releasing a solution guide to carter the players who are facing this issue. In a Twitter thread, Bungie has advised the players to pause the download of Lightfall till 27th February at 9 AM PT, after which the official cool down of the servers and preload period will start.
And those who have already downloaded the DLC and are now locked out of their Destiny 2 account are advised to reinstall the game. But if you don’t want to completely reinstall the game, then you have to wait until Destiny 2: Lightfall goes live. However, if you don’t want to wait for two days to play Destiny 2 again, then it is advised to follow the guidelines by Bungie and not to download the Lightfall DLC before the official pre-load time.
Here’s All the Additions and Changes Coming to Destiny 2 with Lightfall.
Players can expect a new adventure as they prepare for the arrival of the Witness and its disciple, Calus. The Lightfall campaign will feature brand new enemies, including the formidable Tormentors, as well as a Legendary difficulty mode for skilled Guardians looking for the ultimate challenge.
In the game’s launch trailer, Guardians get a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming adventure, complete with new quality-of-life features that will make it easier to navigate the game’s buildcrafting system.
One of the biggest updates in Lightfall is the introduction of a new elemental damage type, Strand, which will let players wield the Weave to sow destruction and chaos against the enemies of humanity.
There will also be a bevy of new weapons and armor to add to a player’s Guardian’s arsenal, including powerful Exotics, as well as a new Strand-enabled grapple ability that will give Guardians movement options they’ve never encountered before.
In addition to new weapons and abilities, the Destiny 2 team has been hard at work crafting a host of behind-the-scenes improvements to gameplay, armor customization, and more that will not only make the life of a Guardian easier but more effective in combat too.
One of the key updates is the buildcrafting system, which aims to make it easier for players to take their Guardian to the next level by introducing two new features: Mod Customization and Loadouts.
Mod Customization will allow players to manage their mod collection with a dedicated interface that puts everything on one mod-focused screen. Players will be able to navigate an all-in-one screen that shows all their mods and armor pieces at any given time, allowing them to quickly slot in mods without having to click on individual armor slots.
In addition, they will be able to easily access crucial information such as their current weapon’s perks and stats without the need to click back to their character screen.
Loadouts, on the other hand, will allow players to quickly swap entire sets of gear on the fly, including gear in their vault. Players will start with six slots in which to save loadouts and will be able to earn more as they complete additional Guardian Ranks.
They will also be able to swap between loadouts mid-activity, excluding activities where gear is locked, such as Grandmaster Nightfalls.
Destiny 2: Lightfall promises to be an exciting adventure for Guardians, with plenty of new enemies to conquer and quality-of-life updates to make the gameplay experience even better. With the game’s launch just around the corner, fans are eagerly anticipating what Bungie has in store for them.
