How to Fix “Error Starting Experience” Issue in Roblox?
The error starting experience is a network-related error that occurs when Robox cannot communicate with the server. This can happen when the server is not responding or there is a network issue preventing you from connecting to the server. Oftentimes, misconfiguration of network settings, especially the DNS settings, causes the error starting experience.
Before we jump into the solutions, it is always recommended to start by restarting the computer and the router. Restarting the computer eliminates the temporary bugs causing the issue. Restarting the router can clear out the network-related issues that might be causing this error. Once you have restarted the PC and the router, move on to the following methods to fix this error.
1. Check the server status
Since this error can be caused by a problem with the network connection, it is recommended to check the Roblox server status before making any changes to the computer. To check the server status, head to the status.roblox.com to see whether the server is up or not. If it is up, apply the following methods to fix this issue.
2. Use the Google DNS server
DNS or Domain Name System is used to translate the domain names into IP addresses to connect the users to the website or the server. By default, Windows uses the default DNS settings, which sometimes causes network errors when the DNS server does not work properly. Therefore, in this step, we will try using the Google DNS server as it is faster, more secure, and more reliable. To use the Google DNS server, follow the steps:
- Open the Control Panel by pressing the Win key and typing Control Panel.
- Hit Enter to navigate into the control panel.
- From here, navigate to the Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre.
- Click Change adapter settings. Then, right-click the Network Adapter and select Properties.
- Here, find and select the Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
- Now choose Use the following DNS server addresses and type the following Google DNS server addresses.
8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
- Once done, click OK to save the DNS settings.
3. Run Roblox as an administrator
Roblox might not have the permissions to access the redistributable files required to launch the Roblox. In this case, we recommend configuring the Roblox to always run with the administrator to avoid the permission issue. To do so, follow the steps:
- Right-click the Roblox and select Properties.
- In case you don’t have a Roblox shortcut on the desktop, click the Start Menu and type Roblox.
- Right-click the Roblox shortcut and select Open file location. Here, you will see the Roblox shortcut. Right-click on it and select Properties.
- Now go to Compatibility and tick Run this program as an administrator.
- Click Apply and OK for the changes to take effect.
- Once done, try launching the Roblox.
4. Disable the third-party antivirus software
In some cases, the antivirus software prevents the Roblox from launching correctly. This is because Roblox consumes a significant amount of system resources. This is especially true if the Roblox is running on an iGPU, so to prevent the consumption, third-party antivirus software blocks the executable file of the program to prevent it from running or launching on the system. To ensure that whether the antivirus is causing the error or not, you will have to disable the third-party antivirus software temporarily. Follow the steps to do so:
- Right-click the antivirus icon from the system tray.
- Hover over the option related to Disable.
- Then, select Disable for 10 minutes or Disable permanently.
- Once you have disabled the antivirus software, try launching the Roblox.
5. Reset network settings
If you are still facing this issue, try resetting the network settings. Resetting the network settings will undo all network settings configured by you. So, if this error is occurring due to misconfigured network settings, resetting them to default will fix it. To do so, follow the steps:
- Press the Win key to open up the Start Menu.
- Now, type Network reset and open the network settings.
- Here, click Reset Now to reset the network settings to default.
- Once done, see if the error is fixed.
6. Use a Microsoft Store version
Roblox also has a Microsoft Store version, just like a client version. It is the same as the client version. So, if the error is not fixed after trying out the above methods, it is not necessary to use the Roblox version, as you can download the Microsoft Store version. Therefore, install Roblox from the Microsoft Store to avoid this error.
Follow the steps to download the Roblox from Microsoft Store:
- Navigate to the Microsoft Store and search for the Roblox.
- Click the Get button to download and install the Roblox.
7. Reinstall Roblox
In case nothing works for you and you are still facing the same error continuously, try reinstalling the Robkox because it is possible that you have corruption in the Roblox application files, preventing it from launching. To ensure whether the corrupted files are causing the error or not, you will have to reinstall Roblox. For that, follow the steps:
- Open the settings using the shortcut Win + I on the keyboard.
- Navigate to Apps > Installed apps.
- Here, find the Roblox and click the three dots to uninstall the Roblox application.
- Once done, press the Win + R keys simultaneously.
- Here, type appdata and click OK.
- Then, go to the Local folder and find the Roblox folder.
- Then, right-click the Roblox folder and select Delete.
- Download the Roblox from the link.
- Once it is downloaded, install it and verify if this worked.
