Samsung Goes EXYNOS with the Galaxy F54 5G
Samsung is one of those companies that, for a long time has dominated the mid-range market in regions like India, and has been known to use its own Exynos chipsets in some of its devices. In recent years, the company has been using its own chipsets in its mid-range devices, such as the Galaxy A series we saw earlier this year.
Now, it seems that Samsung is taking this a step further by using Exynos chips in its upcoming F series, specifically the F54.
The F54 5G was spotted in an online performance benchmark, which confirms that the phone is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset (the same used in the more popular A54) with 8GB of RAM. The Exynos 1380 is manufactured on a 5nm process and has four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores running at 2.4GHz, four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz, and a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU operating at 950MHz.
Based on what was seen on a Google Play Console listing, it is believed that the Galaxy F54 5G is a rebranded Galaxy M54 5G for regions like India. F-branded phones are typically not released in regions like the US, as they are mostly designed to cater the needs of that particular market.
While availability details for the Galaxy F54 5G are unknown, it is expected to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. It is also expected to have a 32MP selfie camera and a huge 6,000mAh battery with 25W charging. The Galaxy M54 5G has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and it is likely that the Galaxy F54 5G will have the same setup.
Samsung is likely to release the Galaxy F54 this summer, but it is possible that the phone will suddenly show up online and go on sale before the end of May. This move to use Exynos chips in mid-range devices is a significant step for Samsung and could lead to more powerful and affordable phones in the future.
