Dimensity 9300’s Geekbench Score Revealed, Beats Apple’s A17 Pro in Multi-Core Performance
A few hours ago, MediaTek released the Dimensity 9300, one of the first mobile SoCs with exclusively performance cores (as opposed to efficiency cores). The chipset also included a race-to-idle concept, which meant that it would operate at full speed to tackle smaller jobs rather than operating at a reduced speed and taking more time.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 appeared to have a lot of potential on paper, but the manufacturer did not release any benchmarks. However, @tech_reve has posted benchmark results on X/Twitter for a Vivo phone equipped with the chipset on Geekbench 6, demonstrating the chipset’s superior performance.
What’s even more interesting is that Dimensity 9300’s Geekbench scores surpass Apple’s Latest A17 Pro Chipset, which is a huge win for the company considering Apple had been one of the highest ones on the processor leaderboard.
It is clear that the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 outperforms the A17 Pro in every single multi-core test. While this is not true for the single-core score, the gap is not massive. That suggests the CPU has the potential to surpass not only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but also the Exynos 2400. If that’s the case, the battle to release the quickest smartphone in 2024 will be exciting, as there will be three tough contenders competing for the title.
However, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300’s efficiency remains skeptical. After all, the chip is lacking efficiency cores and is aiming for a goal that isn’t often pursued by smartphone chips: the race-to-idle. Nothing can stop it from being the most popular processor if it also performs competitively in terms of efficiency.
