Fix: Failed to Send in Snapchat
The Snapchat app may fail to send a message mostly due to an outdated application, corrupt cache, or a bad installation of the application itself. The affected user fails to send messages to a particular contact but can receive messages from that specific contact. It is very rare that the affected user cannot send messages to anyone. Even some edge cases, the affected users got the error message but in reality, the message was successfully delivered.
Before moving on with the solutions to fix Snapchat failed to send issue, it will be a good idea to check if there is any type of Snapchat server outages. Also, make sure that the person you are trying to send the message has not blocked you. Moreover, check if your internet is working fine. It will be a good idea to use another network (a stable connection with better speed) to send the message again.
Solution 1: Update the Snapchat App
Snapchat is regularly updated to satiate the ever-evolving technological advancements and patch some known bugs. If you are using an outdated version of the Snapchat application, then the app may encounter the error message. In this case, updating the app to the latest version may solve the problem. For illustration, we will discuss the process for Android users.
- Open the Play Store app and tap on the Search bar.
- Now search for Snapchat, and in the search results, tap on Snapchat.
- Now tap on the Update button.
- After updating the app, launch the Snapchat app and check if it is clear of the error.
Solution 2: Logout of the Snapchat App and Then Log Back In
The message failing to send could be due to a temporary software/communication glitch. To rule out any such problem, it will be a good idea to logout and then log back to the Snapchat app. For illustration, we will go through the process for Android users.
- Open the Snapchat app and tap on the user icon (near the top left of the screen).
- Then tap on the gear icon to bring out the Settings screen.
- Now scroll down till the end and tap on Logout.
- Tap on the No button to “Save the Login info” dialogue box.
- To confirm to Logout, tap on Logout.
- Now restart your phone. Then open Snapchat and log in using your credentials.
- Now check if the app is clear of the error.
Solution 3: Clearing Data and Cache of the Application
Like other applications, Snapchat also uses a cache to boost up processes and improve the user experience. If the app cache or data is corrupt, then the application may fail to send the messages. In this scenario, clearing the app cache and data may solve the problem. For illustration, we will discuss the process for Android users.
- Open the Snapchat app and tap on the user icon (near the top left corner of the screen).
- Now tap on the gear icon to bring out the Settings screen.
- Then scroll down till the end and tap on Clear Cache.
- Then check if the app is working fine.
- If not, log out of the app (as mentioned in solution 2). Now open Settings of your phone.
- Then tap on Apps/Application Manager.
- Now find and tap on Snapchat.
- Then tap on Force Stop and confirm to force stop the app.
- Now tap on Storage.
- Then tap on Clear Cache and on Clear Data.
- Now restart your phone and then launch the Snapchat app to check if it is operating fine.
Solution 4: Reinstall Snapchat
If nothing has worked for you so far, then the root cause of the issue could be the corrupt installation of the application itself. If your application supports, then before uninstalling the app, it will be a good idea to downgrade the app version (if the problem started to appear after a buggy update). - Open Settings of your phone and tap on Apps/Application Manager.
- Then tap on Snapchat.
- Now tap on the Uninstall button and then confirm to uninstall the app.
- Now restart your phone and then reinstall Snapchat from the Play Store.
