When you encounter the VAN 152 error in Valorant, your gaming session is terminated due to a connection error indicating a hardware ID (HWID) ban. This specific error code, VAN 152, indicates that Riot Games anti-cheat system, Vanguard, has flagged your hardware for the use of prohibited applications or cheating tools.

The primary cause of this error is the detection of cheating software, but it may also be triggered by harmless programs mistakenly identified as malicious by Vanguard.

This error is significant because it does not only block your account but also bans the hardware itself, making it impossible to play on the same device without taking action.

The HWID ban typically lasts for about four months, during which players are expected not to access the game on the banned hardware.

Other possible causes could include the use of a VPN, the Vanguard anti-cheat system not running, or conflicts with other software. This ban usually lasts four months but can sometimes be fixed by reinstalling Windows or the game.

In this article, well discuss possible solutions for this problem.

1. Check Server Status

Server issues in Valorant may lead to errors. Check the server status to ensure they are operational before attempting other solutions.

Server status can be checked at the official site here.

2. Restart Your PC and Game

Occasionally, this error could simply be a temporary glitch that might be fixed with a restart of the game or your computer.

  1. Right-click on the Windows icon and select Task Manager.
  2. Choose any task related to Riot Games and select End task.
  3. Now restart your computer and see if the issue continues

3. Disable VPN

If youre using a VPN, it might cause problems with the game since VPNs are not allowed while playing, according to the terms of service.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > VPN.
  3. Switch off any active VPN connections.

4. Try on a Friends PC

To find out if the issue has to do with your computer, try playing Valorant on a friends PC. This can help determine if its a ban or a technical error.

5. Reinstall Valorant

By uninstalling and then reinstalling Valorant, you remove any corrupted files potentially causing the VAN 152 error.

  1. Press Windows + R, type in appwiz.cpl, and press enter.
  2. Pick Valorant, select it, and select Uninstall.
  3. Follow the prompts to uninstall the game.
  4. Download and install Valorant again from Riot Games official website here.

6. Clean Install Windows

Some players have fixed the issue by starting over with a clean installation of Windows, which removes all drivers and applications.

For step-by-step guidelines on performing a clean Windows installation, check our guide here.

7. Contact Support

If these solutions do not work, reach out to Riot Games support to find out if there is a ban or a technical issue.

When League of Legends players experience crashes, it often occurs while they are in the middle of a game or just about to start a match. This interruption prevents them from playing the game smoothly. The specific root cause of these crashes can vary but is often associated with compatibility issues related to hardware or software configurations. These can include computers not meeting the game’s minimum requirements, software conflicts, corrupted game files, or outdated drivers or Windows.

This article provides guidance on how to resolve crashing issues in League of Legends.

1. Preliminary Fixes

  • Check internet: A stable internet connection is essential for playing League of Legends. If you are experiencing connectivity problems, check your internet speed at Fast.com or Speedtest.net. Should the speed be insufficient, consider restarting your router/modem or contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Update Graphics Driver: An outdated graphics driver can lead to game performance issues. Learn how to check for and update your graphics driver here.
  • Update Windows: Regular updates can improve the performance of Windows. It is recommended to keep your system up to date to prevent issues. Instructions to update Windows can be found here.

2. Repair Game Files

Corrupted or missing game files can cause crashes. Repairing the game files will trigger a scan of all files and will replace any that are missing or corrupted.

  1. Launch League of Legends.
  2. Click on the Settings icon at the top right.
  3. Select General and click Initiate Full Repair.

3. Close Background Programs

Other applications running in the background, such as Discord, Steam, or the Epic Games launcher, can interfere with the game. These programs can increase CPU usage, resulting in game crashes. Therefore, it is advised to close any non-essential background processes.

  1. Press Windows + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. Right-click on any processes that aren’t needed and select End Task.
  3. After closing the unnecessary processes, try starting the game again. The issue should hopefully be resolved.

4. Change League Client Settings

Sometimes the problem may lie within the League client itself. Running the client in DX9 mode may help, especially on lower-end PCs. You should also consider running the client as an administrator and enabling DX9 legacy mode in the settings.

  1. Navigate to the installation directory of League of Legends, typically located at:
    C:\Riot Games\League of Legends
  2. In the Game folder, right-click on League of Legends and select Properties.
  3. Under the Compatibility tab, enable “Disable Fullscreen Optimizations” and “Run this program as Administrator“.
  4. Click Apply and OK.
  5. Open League of Legends and access the Settings menu.
  6. Under Game settings, check the box for Prefer DX9 Legacy Mode.
  7. Restart your client and attempt to play the game again. This may resolve your issue.

The “Logging into online services” error often arises from network issues that can disrupt the connection between a player and the game’s servers. Server overloads during significant content drops in MW3 may trigger these errors. Furthermore, suboptimal performance from your home network can also provoke errors such as “Logging into online services”.

Additional causes for the error may include congested servers, planned maintenance, an outdated version of the game, corrupted game files, and conflicts with certain software applications.

Nonetheless, we have put together a straightforward guide to delve into this error and offer effective remedies.

Troubleshoot Prerequisites

  1. Check Server Status: Your game could be encountering this error due to scheduled maintenance. Verify the game’s server status on Activision’s Online Services page.
  2. Restart Your Game and Computer: Begin by restarting your game; if the issue persists, proceed to restart your computer.
  3. Restart Your Network Devices: Temporary glitches with your router or modem could be the culprit, so attempt a restart.
  4. Check and Disable VPN: While a VPN can prove useful, MW3 servers may not support VPN usage during gameplay. If active, disable your VPN and recheck for issues.
  5. Manually Check for an Update: Console players may sometimes miss an auto-update, leading to errors. Ensure that you check for updates manually and install any available.
  6. Keep Retrying: Continue to retry by launching the game repeatedly, as this may resolve the issue according to several user reports.

Solution 1: Clear Console Cache

Clearing your console’s cache can eliminate corrupt data possibly fixing this problem.

For PlayStation:

  1. Completely shut down the console.
  2. Disconnect the power cord.
  3. Wait 10-15 minutes before restarting the console.

For Xbox:

  1. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
  2. The Xbox will perform a hard reset, wiping the cache in the process.

Solution 2: Verify Game Files

Corrupt or missing game files can lead to issues such as game launch failures and server connection problems. Verify your game files through the appropriate game launcher.

For Steam:

  1. Open Steam and navigate to the Library section.
  2. Right-click COD: MW3 and select it.
  3. Choose Properties and go to the Local Files tab.
  4. Select Verify Integrity of Game Files.
  5. After the process, reboot your computer and try to launch the game again.

For Battle.net:

  1. Launch Battle.net.
  2. Find COD: MW3 and click the gear icon next to the title.
  3. Choose Scan and Repair.
  4. Once finished, restart your machine and attempt to launch the game.

Solution 3: Port Forwarding

Network errors could be at the root of the issue. Configuring port forwarding on your router might enhance the connection between your gaming device and the MW3 servers.

For port forwarding instructions, visit: https://appuals.com/port-forwarding-netgear-routers/

Here are the ports you should configure for COD: MW3:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – Steam

  • TCP: 3074, 27015, 27036
  • UDP: 3074, 27015, 27031-27036

  • UDP: 3074, 3478-3479

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – Xbox

  • TCP: 3074
  • UDP: 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500

Solution 4: Allow MW3 Through Windows Defender

Interference from security software could also be inhibiting connectivity for the game. Adjusting Windows Defender settings to permit MW3 might address this problem:

  1. In the search bar, look for Windows Defender Firewall and open it.
  2. Select Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall from the left menu.
  3. Click on Change Settings then choose Allow another app….
  4. Press Browse and navigate to your MW3 installation folder.
  5. Identify and open your game’s executable file (.exe).
  6. In the MW3 row, tick both the Private and Public boxes and click OK.
  7. Restart your computer and verify if the issue is fixed.

Solution 5: Contact Activision Support or Your ISP

In case none of the solutions provide a fix, it might be time to seek further assistance by contacting Activision’s official support. Submitting a support ticket can also aid developers in examining the issue more closely and potentially releasing a patch for a permanent resolution.

Should you find that connectivity issues extend beyond this particular scenario, it’s likely a broader network problem. In such cases, reaching out to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and detailing the problem can be beneficial.

While playing WWE 2K24 on PC, players may experience an issue where their controller stops registering inputs. This problem usually points to a compatibility issue between the controller and the game. The most common cause is outdated graphics and audio drivers, which may not be optimized for the newest games.

Other potential factors leading to this problem include conflicts with third-party software, in-game bugs and glitches, corrupted or missing game files, and the Steam input feature, all of which can disrupt the controller’s communication and functionality. To address these issues, this guide provides several solutions.

1. Preliminary Fixes

  • Using a Wired Connection: A wired connection might reduce compatibility problems, offering a simple solution. Make sure the game isn’t running when you connect the controller.
  • Conflicting Programs: Third-party applications may interfere with your game. Try shutting down any potentially conflicting software before starting your game.

2. Update Your Controller

Firmware updates often include bug fixes and enhancements that can eliminate compatibility issues with different games.

  3. Open the Firmware Updater and connect your PlayStation controller to the PC using a USB cable.
  4. Click the “Update Now” button to install the most recent firmware update.

3. Update Graphics & Audio Drivers

As previously mentioned, outdated graphics and audio drivers are a common source of errors. Updating them to the latest versions should alleviate the problem.

For Audio Drivers:

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run command, then type devmgmt.msc to launch Device Manager.
  2. Navigate to Sound, video and game controllers in the device list and expand it.
  3. Right-click on your audio device and select “Update Driver.”
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software to install the most recent driver version.

For Graphics Drivers:

Refer to our guide on How to Update Graphics Drivers on Windows for comprehensive, manufacturer-specific instructions.

4. Disable Steam Input

Steam Input allows various controllers to be used in games. However, for games with native controller support, Steam Input might cause issues. Disabling this feature may help.

  1. Start Steam and find WWE 2K24 in the Library section.
  2. Right-click the game and select Properties.
  3. In the properties window, select Controller, then choose Disable Steam Input from the right-side drop-down menu.

Corrupted or missing game files can impact performance and functionality. Steam’s “Verify Integrity of Game Files” feature can recover these files.

  1. Open Steam and go to WWE 2K24 within the Library section.
  2. Right-click the game and pick Properties.

It’s truly amazing how much to do there is in Baldur’s Gate 3. After you’ve finished the multitude of side quests, you’ll realize that you can replay them and explore another outcome for some of them, if you decide to start a new game. And with cloud saves, you don’t have to worry about your save files with your completed game ever being lost.

Although cloud saves are pretty great, they do tend to cause issues with mods, or if you’re switching over to another platform. They also make your game load up slower. That’s why for those who want to have a fluid experience while modding, or just want to play the game as soon as they click on it, here’s how you can disable cloud saves for BG3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that screams to be save scummed | Larian Studios

What are Cloud Saves?

Cloud saves are game saves that are stored on the cloud. They can be accessed by the game any time, as long as the player has an Internet connection, and are constantly uploaded to keep them up-to-date. Cloud saves allow your saves to have a secure backup in case you ever find yourself in an unfortunate situation e.g. hard drive failure, SSD read-only mode, etc.

Nowadays, all game stores and platform provides a cloud save feature for all of your games that support it. In the case of consoles, cloud saves are usually available to those who have a subscription service like PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass etc. Luckily, if you’re using your Larian account to cloud save, you don’t need these subscription services.

You can check the cloud save status of a game on Steam from your library

PC game stores like Steam, GOG Galaxy and Epic Games Store provide cloud saves for free, although it might be limited to a certain size for every individual game, as is the case for Steam. Also, whether cloud saving will be supported for a specific game on a specific store is a conversation between the developers and the store’s management.

How Do Saves Work in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Baldur’s Gate 3, being an RPG with abundant choices, allows you to create multiple saves. While you can save scum all you want, it’s a necessary feature, especially since the game supports mods. To check the result of some mods, you may have to rewind back a bit and that’s what old saves are for. Regardless, there are 2 ways to save in BG3:

  1. Quick Save: You can do a quick save by pressing the F5 key on your keyboard. This key can be remapped to your preference in the Settings. After 25 quick saves are made, further quick saves will overwrite the older ones, so take care.
  2. Manual Save: The classic saving method. Access the Pause menu by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard and select Save Game. You can create multiple saves this way.
Loading a manual save in Baldur’s Gate 3 | Philminator

Whether you choose to rely on a single save file that you overwrite each time, or create multiple saves is up to you. Whatever your preference is, if cloud saving is enabled, it will back up all your saves to a secure network for added assurance. On PC, BG3 is available on only 2 stores, Steam and GOG Galaxy. Of the 2, only Steam supports cloud saving for Baldur’s Gate 3, while GOG, unfortunately, is left out.

Another way of cloud saving is through a Larian account. A Larian account allows you to back up the 5 most recent saves to the cloud. These can also accessed through different platforms. However, it greatly increases the boot-up time for the game.

Conclusion

Cloud saves, while very practical and essential, are often ignored by most gamers. That’s mostly because cloud saves can take a bit of time to upload and sync, and we all would be lying if we said that we’re patient. Either way, it’s your call if you want to keep them enabled. But remember; better safe than sorry.

FAQs

What are cloud saves?

Cloud saves are save files, belonging to a game, that have been backed up to a secure network or the cloud. They provide a failsafe and a backup solution in case your saves are corrupted, deleted, or tampered with mods.

Does Baldur’s Gate 3 support cloud saves?

Like most games nowadays, Baldur’s Gate 3 does support cloud saves. On console, you can make use of the subscription-based cloud saves, or the free cloud saves granted through a Larian account. PC users can also make use of the Larian account, while also relying on Steam’s free cloud saves. Unfortunately, GOG Galaxy does not support cloud saves for BG3.

Should I enable cloud saves for BG3?

While it’s your call to make, we definitely recommend using cloud saves as they provide a great backup option. If you’re on PC, Steam’s cloud saves are much more fluid than Larian’s. Although if you play on multiple platforms, it’s best to use Larian’s limited cloud saves.
